January 16, 2010The largest component of this launch is the key enhancement that has been made in the back-end architecture of the system. This is the first major step in our larger road map for the system.
A majority of the changes in the system are behind the scenes. We have kept the look and feel the same while adding new functionality and introducing our future Interface Design look on the Client Portal side. You will also notice a new look log-in screen
Below is a list of new features being added. Additional details and documentation from the fp team will follow in the next week.

New (visible) Additions to Function Point:
The Internal fp System: We have made a huge amount of exciting changes that help lay the foundation for the direction we will be taking FP in 2010 and beyond. The following list contains the components that will be immediately visible to our users.
Calendar: - The calendar has been completely re-written and now includes the ability to view all tasks and job due-dates as well as events. - Export the calendar to iCal, Thunderbird or Outlook.
Notes: - A completely re-written notes section within the system giving users the ability to create note threads (comments).
Companies and Contacts Modules: - The ability to add custom data fields to both the companies and contacts modules. - The ability to save files directly to a company folder. - Salesforce Integration (will allow the syncing of company and contact information with FP). - An amazing new interface for client collaboration is available with client user privileges set up through either the company or individual.
Project/Campaign Module: - The ability to save files directly to a project folder. - A new, simple view for your clients to see their active projects and related work.
Estimate Module: - The ability to save files directly to an estimate folder. - A new, simple view for your clients to see their active projects and related work.
Job/Docket Module: - The ability to save files directly to a job folder. - The launch of fpCollaborate (a premium service starting at $49 per month) - The ability to add proofs (for internal and/or client collaboration) including commenting, approvals etc. - A new, simple view for your clients to see their active jobs including status reports, milestones, invoices, files and concepts.
Admin Module: - New interface for setting employee privileges including the ability to save privilege templates for future use.
The Client Portal: The FP team is extremely excited to reveal a completely new Client Portal. Not only will this provide you with a revolutionary tool to help you with client collaboration, it provides you with a sneak-peak of the direction we will be taking with the FP Internal System (look, feel and functionality being rolled out over the next 12 months).
- The Portal provides your clients with the ability to:Submit work requests - Look at active work and associated reports - Approve and comment on design, video and copy concepts - Upload and view files - Participate in discussion forums - Update their contact information - The client will be able to view a calendar with relevant job data.
Version 7.3.2February 9, 2009 The new version will bring a number of minor changes to the system. This upgrade will take place on Tuesday February 10, 2009 at 5:45 pm Pacific time. During this upgrade the system will be unavailable for use. Function Point will be off line from 5:45 pm until 6:45 pm Pacific time. The new or additional functionality offered with this upgrade includes: 1. Changes to the Multi Invoice / Batch Invoice process 2. The addition of preliminary status to invoices for tracking invoices in pre-approved states 3. Overtime allocations to timesheets 4. The names for both of the modules, Estimates and Projects can now be controlled by the administrator. 5. The Status Report has been amended to show the rate per hour. 6. The Resource Link view now shows all tasks with the following characteristics: a. start and end date b. an estimated time c. assignment to a role or individual 7. The addition of a new Skill assignment to individual contacts 8. Includes Skill type and level of competency a. Print out of an individuals skill ratings and details. 9. Adjustments to the Forecast report where the fiscal year was not being recognized.
Version 7.3September 9, 2008 We have been working very hard to improve your experience with the system and have incorporated a number of changes designed to provide a higher level of business process use and flexibility. Many of these changes are the result of feedback that we have received from our users and we thank them for that input. Purchase Orders 1. PO has been rebuilt, including a new multi-line Purchase order. 2. A new expense page has been added to external expenses. 3. A new insertion order page has been added to external expenses. Estimate related changes: 1. Build estimates with assignment of time and estimated dates to individuals and roles. 2. Addition of a revenue schedule on the estimate: o Automatic revenue schedule creation. o Revenue schedule enforcement type from the system preferences. o Addition of the forecast report that utilizes the information. 3. New Estimate internal printout which lists all of the details on the estimate including all the roles associations. 4. Additional estimate status values for tracking submitted, approved and declined estimates. 5. Addition of an estimate type that carries to the job/docket. 6. Addition of estimate Lead Creative, and Client Lead personnel. 7. Addition of an external expense for Admin Fee. Tasking related changes: 1. Addition of the ability to assign a task to a role. 2. Addition of the ability to assign roles to estimate services (role / staff), and carry to the time line. 3. Auto assignment of time sheets to tasks where phase and services match. Invoice related changes: 1. Addition of taxes on retainer invoices. 2. Addition of currency conversion on invoices. 3. Rewrite of the batch invoices process permitting the invoicing of multiple jobs on one invoice. 4. Upgrade of FP Accountant for integration with QuickBooks. Reports: 1. Rewrote the reports call page. 2. Addition of staff percentage utilization. 3. Utilization / report of available resources / Analysis of hours reports. 4. Brief summary report for the docket list view. 5. Docket list, addition of actual / invoiced variance amounts. 6. New job list by client report.
Version 7.2 October 12, 2007 Function Point Productivity Software Inc. Releases Version 7.2 of its Flagship Product This upgrade put’s in place a robust backbone for the product and for moving forward. Over the last 4 years we have received significant feedback from our growing family of online project management users. In addition, over 50 minor adjustments have been made to the online project management solution, all based on the feedback we receive from our client users.
